Regrets in the End

My parents
are unfair.
"Mom, Dad,
I’m home”.
Everyday, my
parents bring some ‘pasalubong’ and I always receive the less expensive.
"Hello!
Anyone home?”
And
sometimes, I don’t receive anything.
They keep on telling me that I’m too old for surprises.
"This is not
funny anymore. You can come out now,
stop hiding!”
It’s
time like this I regret how I was with this sort of
people.
"….Smoke?” I
opened the door in the main part of the house.
"Sis, bro,
where are you? Answer me!”
I got pulled
out of the burning house by a fireman, but no one else was there. All that was left were ruins.
"I found
something in here.”
The fireman
shouted. He found my parents charred
bodies. It looks like they were
protecting each other.
"Mom, Dad!”
I started to cry. I cried even harder
when I perceived what my parents were protecting from fire an envelope and a
present for me.
"Oh,
daughter….,” I started to read.
"Sorry for
making you angry with us, but see! We already bought your most wanted SAMSUNG
GALAXY S4. Sorry if it’s late. It’s too expensive that we need to earn
first. Some other time, let’s take a
picture! We love……”
The last
part of the letter was burnt but the message was clear. I cried but this time with hatred. I hated my parents for leaving me. I hated them for having a daughter like
me. Most of all, I hate myself for
failing to love them back.
